Lonzo Ball has been a popular name mentioned in trade talks ahead of the NBA trade deadline on March 25. With Ball's future with the New Orleans Pelicans up in the air, Mychal Thompson — the father of Klay Thompsonwishes that Ball would be dealt to the Golden State Warriors.

“Lonzo can play,” Thompson recently told ESPNLA's “Mason & Ireland” show. “I wish he was on the Warriors passing the ball to Steph [Curry] and Klay.”

In the past month, trade rumors involving Ball have ramped up as the Pelicans continue to lose games. Among the teams who have reportedly shown interest in Ball, the Warriors would make sense given what they need on the roster, which is another guy who can create for others.

The former No. 2 overall pick of the Los Angeles Lakers is currently notching a career-high 14.2 points per game while shooting a career-best 38.5 percent from beyond the arc. While Ball's scoring numbers are up, it's due to him having a role that requires him to become a spot-up shooter more.

Besides his improved shooting, Ball would give the Warriors a guy who can take the pressure off of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green when it comes to operating the offense. However, it remains to be seen if New Orleans is interested in dealing Ball ahead of the deadline.

If a trade were to happen between the Warriors and Pelicans, Golden State could offer Kelly Oubre Jr. and picks to land the playmaking point guard. Though, it's important to note that Ball is a restricted free agent at season's end. Even though there haven't been any signs pointing toward Ball headed to the Bay Area, Thompson would love to see Ball alongside Curry and his son in the 2021-2022 season.
