Warriors guard Stephen Curry admitted he has targeted Cavs Kevin Love on switches during the last two postseasons after one possession gave Love the last laugh in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers led by three with less than a minute left and an inspired Love played more defense in one possession that he had in an entire season, effectively shutting down a hobbled Curry and keeping him from scoring a potential game-tying three.

Curry told Bill Simmons on his podcast that he looked to score on Love to prove himself after hearing all about how he was shut down by a power forward in the most critical moment of his postseason.

via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area:

Simmons: “It felt like the last two years, every time Kevin Love got switched on to you, you had a flashback to Game 7 '16 and you wanted to score on him. Is that fair?”

Curry: “Yes. That is very fair. I spent a whole year hearing about that one possession.”

Curry scored only 17 points in Game 7 and shot a woeful 6-of-19 from the field, including 4-of-14 from deep — a performance that brought questions of his legitimacy as the first-ever unanimous MVP of the league.

The Golden State Warriors point guard had missed six postseason games after an ankle and a knee injury, which he suffered early in the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers, and the latter against the Houston Rockets.

Curry wasn't the same with his mobility after the latest injury, which helped spell the end of a would-have-been historic ending to a regular season for the books, as the Warriors came off winning an all-time high 73 games in 2015-16.
