Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is doing his part to inform fans of health and safety measures to be taken in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Curry urged citizens to practice the concept of “social distancing” to the best of their abilities, noting the need to “flatten the curve” and practice frequent sanitation.

The Center for Disease Control issued a set of guidelines for Americans to practice in which they refer to social distancing by way of a set of prescribed practices based on community size and demographics.

Of course, it is only natural the Warriors star and other NBA players to take to social media to stress preventative measures. After all, it is unlikely the league can feasibly encourage the resumption of the regular season before the illness is slowed from a societal perspective.

Stephen Curry is hardly alone in this regard. Players like Rudy Gobert, Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo have used their respective platforms to attempt to inform and encourage fans to be safe during these trying times.

The Warriors are glad Curry himself has not been impacted. Head coach Steve Kerr recently revealed the organization feared Curry had contracted coronavirus when he came down with the flu shortly after his return from a 57-game absence. However, it appears Curry merely had the common flu due in part to the health of his son.

Basketball fans might be wise to heed the advice of their local heroes. Commissioner Adam Silver has said the NBA will reconvene next April to assess the current situation, but Silver also noted a cancelation of the season is possible.
