The Golden State Warriors have been the ultimate super team for the better part of the last decade. Now with other franchises building their own powerhouse rosters, it's now their turn to play catch up.

The Warriors have made some solid additions this offseason, bringing back veteran leader Andre Iguodala and snagging Otto Porter Jr. on a veteran's minimum deal. But Steve Kerr dished on their unsung signing that could be a game-changer for their offense – Nemanja Bjelica.

Kerr dished on Bjelica in a recent interview with The Athletic's Tim Kawakami:

“I think it’s really exciting. You think about it, we’ve never had a pick-and-pop big. Actually, I shouldn’t say that. We had Mo Speights. What I should say is we haven’t had a 3-point shooting pick-and-pop big. When we had Mo, he was a 20-foot-and-in jump-shooter, and he helped us win a lot of games. A fan favorite. Mo Buckets, he was great and played a really important role on our team.”

Brushing that near Mo Speights snub aside, Steve Kerr definitely has it right. The Warriors have always been known for their small ball lineups, playing Draymond Green or even sometimes smaller wings at the five position. Bjelica is a legitimate 6'10 body who has the size and shooting ability to give them a different look.

“I look at Bjelica as the 3-point-shooting version of Mo, in many ways,” the Warriors coach continued, “Because all of a sudden, you’re looking at a spaced floor when you consider Klay’s return and Steph’s play last year, the ability to play Bjelica with Draymond, which basically turns Draymond into the five and the pick-and-roll guy with Bjelica spaced. Really exciting.”

Mo Speights eventually developed his outside shot, but it came after his time with the Warriors. Mo Buckets never even attempted one per game in Golden State then shot nearly four per game in his two seasons after leaving. Bjelica is a near-40% three-point shooting big who has big-game experience in the past, being named Euroleague MVP before joining the NBA.

The Warriors are looking to remind everyone that they're still a championship contender. Steve Kerr certainly has the weapons at his disposal to do so.
