Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry had a chance to agree on a contract extension with the team last season, per Drew Schiller of NBC Sports. However, that did not happen. Had a max deal been agreed upon, Curry would have seen a payday of approximately $156 million for three years.

Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers talked about this in a segment of 5.7 The Game's “Steiny, Guru & Dibs” show.

“He could sign a four-year deal after this season [or] a five-year deal after that,”  Myers said last Wednesday. “It wasn't anything that was difficult. No hard conversation. It was just, ‘Hey, let's talk about it at the end of the year.' So it's really whatever he's hoping to do and wants to do.”

Curry will be paid around $46 million next season. Before the 2021-2022 starts, Curry can decide on the aforementioned four-year deal worth $215 million in additional money.

When asked about the probability of Curry staying with the Warriors, Myers seemed pretty confident.

“I think he's happy. Obviously, fans always are gonna be worried about Steph Curry. But I feel like he's in a very good place personally [and] professionally,” Myers mentioned. “I feel pretty good about him wanting to be around. I don't personally have any — besides the paranoid fears that everybody has that aren't really rational — besides once in awhile, ‘Well what if this happened?' But those aren't based on fact. So I feel good about it and I think he feels good about it.”

Curry is a player whose contracts were team-friendly for the longest time. In the 2014-2015 season, where he was league MVP and led a championship team, his salary was just $10,629,213. Even when his $34,682,550 pay kicked in in the 2017-2018 season, this amount was still reasonable as he made an All-NBA team and the Warriors earned another ring.

Nothing points to Steph Curry signing elsewhere, it's just a matter of him wanting to see how the season plays out.
