The 2020 NBA Draft is less than a month away, and with the Golden State Warriors having the second overall pick, there’s a lot of speculation about what the team will do with the pick.

There are rumors that the Warriors will choose to trade the pick and other assets to try to land another All Star to place alongside All Stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, with Curry and Thompson having recovered from injuries that sidelined them for most of last season. However, Golden State using the draft pick as part of a trade package may not be a sure thing, with Warriors brass traveling to different parts of the country to have workouts with some of the top prospects in the draft.

The Dubs recently traveled to Atlanta to see 19-year-old Deni Avdija, and they were reportedly “blown away” by the Maccabi Tel Aviv player. Now, Marcus Thompson of The Athletic reports the Warriors may actually consider keeping their pick after working out two other projected top picks in Georgia guard Anthony Edwards and Memphis big man James Wiseman.

Thompson says people at the workout said both prospects were “beasts” and have reportedly given the Dubs reason to be fine with selecting a young talent in the draft instead of trading for a star, with the prospects making an impression in different ways:

Wiseman is as big and skilled as advertised. They also liked him when they had their conversation/interview or whatever it was.

Edwards’ exceptional athleticism jumped out in person. He seemed to really impress the Warriors with his freakishness. He must have done something like this.

The Warriors have been leaking a lot leading up to the draft, and this could just be them blowing smoke and trying to talk up these prospects to make a trade more likely. Or perhaps they actually really like all these guys.

The Dubs will still have a few more weeks to decide, but whatever decision they make, they'll be one of the most intriguing teams in the league next season.
