When will we all learn our lesson? The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are squared up at 2-2 in their best-of-seven, round one series entering Tuesday night. With Anthony Davis injured, a lot will rest right on the shoulders of LeBron James.

James has been good, not great so far in this series for the Lakers as they try to advance as the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. In Game 5, LA will likely need a monster performance from King James to take a 3-2 lead.

Currently, FanDuel has the Suns as the favorites to win the series. Phoenix rests at (-160) while the Lakers are (+130). It makes sense given the nature of Anthony Davis' injury and his unknown status the rest of the way. But if history has told us anything, never bet against LeBron James in round one.

This year marks LeBron James' 15th time being in the NBA playoffs. In his 14 prior trips, his teams are a flawless 14-0 in round one. That's correct: LeBron has never been shown the door in the opener of the postseason.

Now the deck is stacked with Anthony Davis being injured and with guys like Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope struggling offensively.

Yet, it would be idiotic to bet against James in the first round. He's hasn't lost before and he has faced steep challenges such as being pushed to a Game 7 in round one against the Indiana Pacers in 2018. The Suns have a really good team–there's no doubting that–and the Lakers are reeling. But who wants to be the one to dip their toes into the water and beat against James this early?

On paper, sure, give the advantage to the Suns right now with Davis' status hanging in the balance. Logic, history, LeBron's performances in spots similar to this in the past lead in an opposite direction.

The saying goes that all good things must come to an end. LeBron's undefeated run in the first round of the NBA playoffs is one that should only be believed once it is seen, not bet against while it's going on. Like Tom Brady in the NFL year in and year out, LeBron James somehow always finds a way; especially in the first round.
