The Dallas Wings are ready to begin the 2024 WNBA season. Dallas defeated Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in their preseason matchup, and excitement is high for the regular season. In fact, the Wings' first two home games are already sold out. On Sunday, Dallas revealed their roster for Opening Night.

Guards

Arike Ogunbowale leads the way at the guard position. She is a three-time All-Star who could realistically make a run at the WNBA MVP Award in 2024.
Ogunbowale averaged 21.2 points, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. She plays hard on both sides of the ball and is a leader on this team. Arike may stand only 5'8, but she is one of the best players in the entire league.
Sevgi Uzun, Jacy Sheldon, Lou Lopez Senechal, and Jaelyn Brown are the other guards on the roster. It is worth noting that Brown is listed as a guard and forward, so she can play multiple positions if necessary.
The Wings made their final roster cuts for the season on Sunday. Guard Veronica Burton was ultimately waived by the team. She shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) after the news was announced.
“Dallassss,” Burton wrote, “i appreciate everything I’ve gotten to experience here and all the people along the way. He is good all the time.”

Burton's release was surprising. Nevertheless, the Wings feature a respectable amount of depth at guard. Jacy Sheldon, who was the No. 5 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, will be a player to watch.
The Ohio State product did not receive as much attention as other top picks in the draft. However, she features the potential to make an immediate impact for the Wings.
Jaelyn Brown has already made a big impact. She scored 21 points in the Wings' preseason victory over the Fever. We do not want to overreact to just one game, but Brown's performance was encouraging without question.

Satou Sabally is an MVP candidate when healthy. She finished fifth in MVP voting in 2023. Sabally is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, however. Dallas is hopeful that she will return in August.
Fortunately for the Wings, they feature a number of other talented forwards on their 2024 roster.
Natasha Howard and Maddy Siegrist are also listed as forwards. As mentioned earlier, Brown's versatility gives her the ability to play small forward if necessary.
Meanwhile, Kalani Brown, Stephanie Soares, and Teaira McCowan are the team's centers.
Howard is a two-time All-Star who has played in the WNBA since 2014. She also offers plenty of leadership given her veteran prowess. Howard enjoyed a strong first season with the Wings in 2023. Dallas believes she will play a pivotal role in the team's success once again in 2024.
Dallas Wings ready for 2024 season
Head coach Latricia Trammell and the Wings are looking to make another playoff run in 2024. Dallas reached the postseason in 2023 but fell short of the WNBA Finals.
Sabally's absence is obviously far from ideal. With that being said, Dallas can still play a competitive brand of basketball throughout the first few months of the season. And if Sabally is able to return in August, it will feel like a crucial acquisition for Dallas ahead of a potential playoff run.
