The Dallas Wings were defeated 87-76 on Sunday by the Minnesota Lynx. Dallas fell to 3-4 with the defeat. However, there were some positive takeaways from the game.

Arike Ogunbowale played well once again, recording 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Monique Billings also enjoyed a quality performance with a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double. And Sevgi Uzun scored a new career-high 12 points. Uzun also added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

“I'm so happy for her,” Billings said of Uzun's new career-high. “I just want Sevgi to keep being confident. I don't think she knows how good she is… It's just hard when you're a shooter. Sometimes you are just going through a lot. You have to lead a team, you're trying to make your own shots, trying to get stops on defense. I feel for her.

“She just makes us so much better. She makes me so much better as a player. I'm expecting another career-high maybe next game.”

It was an impressive performance for Uzun. The Wings would have obviously preferred to have earned the victory, but Uzun should still be proud of what she accomplished on Sunday.

Dallas is now set to return home following a long road trip.

The Wings opened the regular season with back-to-back home games. They have since played five consecutive games on the road. Overall, the Wings went 2-3 on the road trip.

It is safe to say that Dallas is excited to return home, albeit it will be a brief trip back to Arlington.

“We go home, we play Vegas on Wednesday,” Wings head coach Latricia Trammell said. “We always tell the team you got to take care of yourself but more importantly you got to take care of each other. And that's what we're gonna focus on.”

“So excited,” Uzun said of returning home and playing in front of Wings fans in Arlington.

“We miss home,” Billings added.

The Wings will return home and host the Las Vegas Aces in a game on Wednesday. They will then hit the road again and play the Sparks in Los Angeles. Dallas will then come back home for three games beginning on Sunday.

The Aces-Wings clash projects to be an exciting affair. Las Vegas, the defending champions, hold a 4-2 record. The Aces are building a dynasty and every team in the WNBA understands how talented they are. Perhaps the Wings will pull off an upset at home, however.

Wings staying afloat despite difficult schedule to begin season

Dallas' 3-4 record may not seem all that incredible, but it is quite impressive since they have played five of their first seven games away from home. Teams try to play at least .500 basketball on the road, and the Wings went 2-3 away from home during this recent grueling road trip.

That is encouraging. If they can take care of business at home, the Wings will find themselves in a quality position. Of course, the Aces present an immense challenge regardless of where the game is played. If players such as Uzun and Billings can continue to step up around Ogunbowale then the Wings should have a chance on Wednesday.
