On Tuesday evening, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark made her highly anticipated WNBA debut with the team during their loss to the Connecticut Sun on the road to open up the season. Clark didn't play her best game in this one, scoring 20 points but doing so on poor efficiency and also registering 10 turnovers against just three assists; however, there is obviously still a ton of time for the Fever rookie to improve as the season continues.

One person who was evidently tuned in closely to the game was none other than former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who took to X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter, to share a photo of Clark during the game and asking fans to look closely for clues as to what he wanted them to see.

Some fans speculated that one of the photos that fans were holding for Clark to sign depicted Brown himself.

Others speculated that Brown himself was tucked away in the far background of the picture.

In any case, this isn't the first time that Brown has used his X platform to talk about Clark. Previously, the former NFL star likened Clark's presence in the WNBA to a sports car parked outside of a broken down home, which generated criticism (something that Brown by this point is very used to as it comes to his social media channels).

A shaky debut

As previously mentioned, Caitlin Clark finished the evening in Connecticut with 20 points, three assists, and 10 turnovers, which was a tad underwhelming for some but perhaps should be expected from someone making her professional debut.

After the game, Clark spoke on what her initial thoughts were after finishing up her first game at the highest level.

“I'm disappointed, and nobody likes to lose, but I don't think you can beat yourself up too much about one game,” Clark said, per Alexa Philippou of ESPN. “I don't think that's going to help this team.

“Just learn from it and move on.”

Clark also spoke on how the physicality of the WNBA level differed from her experience in college.

“I think definitely the physicality,” Clark said after being asked what was made life difficult for her on Tuesday. “I think also just like some uncharacteristic stuff. Like, I pick up the ball and travel, I dribble off my foot, I pass it on the inbound, I turn it over. So just a few things that are just — you have to be crisper.”

Meanwhile, Fever coach Christie Sides took a decidedly optimistic approach as it pertained to Clark's struggles.

“She's a rookie,” Sides said. “This is the best league in the world. We've got to teach her. We've got to teach her what these games are going to look like for her every single night. And we've got to eliminate some of that pressure for her, and that's on me.”

In any case, the Fever will next take the court on Thursday for their home opener vs the New York Liberty.
