The Grit Couple of Edge and Beth Phoenix win over The It Couple Miz and Maryse in a non-title mixed tag team match at the Royal Rumble.

This low-stakes match relies a lot on whether or not you like these two couples, but the competitors gave us a quick and entertaining mixed tag match that helped the fans recover energy from the previous match before the Men's Royal Rumble.

The women started the match, but the cowardly Maryse had no choice but to tag in his husband. The Miz and Edge faced off, but Maryse kept on sneaking in hits at Edge to give The Miz the advantage. After too many interruptions, the Glamazon decided to take things into her own hands, chasing Maryse away with a steel chair. The distraction allowed Edge to hit a signature move on The Miz, leading to a two-count. The fallen Miz searched for his wife, tagging her in to face Beth Phoenix.

The Glamazon totally dominated Maryse, but The Miz interrupted a pin for a two-count. The interruption didn't sit well with Beth, who then squared up with The Miz. Beth totally dominated the Hollywood Star as well, but Maryse sneaked in a purse with a brick inside, the same brick they've been using to attack the Grit Couple in the past month. Maryse then hits Beth from behind, knocking her out. Maryse covers, but only manages a two-count. Maryse then dominates the match for a while, but Beth managed to counter with a double clothesline to force the duo to tag in their male partners.

Energy spiked up at this point, with Edge gaining the upper hand. However, Edge gets distracted by Maryse once again, giving The Miz the advantage. Beth had enough and went across the ring to elbow Maryse. Edge and The Miz were at the top turnbuckle at this point, and Maryse used the opportunity to powerbomb The Miz. This allowed Edge to hit a Flying Elbow at The Miz, but this also just led to a two-count.

Maryse would attack Beth outside, throwing her at the steel steps, knocking her out cold. But back in the ring, Edge hit The Miz with a flap jacket. Edge tries to attack The Miz, but Maryse distracts him again, allowing her to hit a Hurricanrana on Edge. Beth tries to intervene, but she got staved off by Maryse. The Miz hits his least devastating finisher, The Skull-Crushing Finale, but only also led to a two-count. The Miz and Maryse tried to do a double skull-crushing finale at Edge, but Beth came in just in the nick of time for the save. The Grit Couple then hit a double spear on The Miz, which Miz sold spectacularly. The two then raised their respective opponents, hitting them with a synchronized Glam Slam, which allowed Edge to cover for the pin.
