While speaking with Stephen A., Triple H detailed the story that led to his eventual decision to stop his in-ring performance. He recalled the cardiac event that led to heart surgery this past September.
Triple H revealed that he was coughing up blood and his wife, Stephanie (WWE Owner and CEO Vince McMahon's daughter) noticed the issue. He went to the hospital to have it checked out, only to find out how bad it truly was. Triple H's heart was failing, his blood pressure had completely dropped and he was on death's door. Somehow, he survived the experience.
He then talked about his kids and the impact of this on him and his family.
It's actually been a couple of years since he performed in the ring as a wrestler. But in this business, guys can go years between matches and still perform suddenly once again. But it sounds as though that is not going to be the case for the former WWE champion.
Triple H was one of the key performers of the WWE's Attitude Era. It was during this time (the mid-1990's to early 2000's) that WWE became a worldwide phenomenon. Wrestlers like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Triple H were key figures during this period.
Triple H summed it up with a shocking revelation.
“For me, as far as in-ring, I’m done. I will never wrestle again. I have a defibrillator in my chest, which it’s not a good idea for me zapped on live TV.”
