Longtime WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is facing major backlash over sexual misconduct allegations made against him this week.
With that bombshell, his daughter Stephanie McMahon is set to take over as interim CEO and interim chairwoman with her father making the decision to “voluntarily step back”, per the WWE's official press release on the matter.
A special committee has been appointed to look into the affairs of both Vince McMahon and head of talent operations John Laurinaitis to investigate the allegations made. The committee was also behind the decision to appoint Stephanie to take over for her father.
Stephanie McMahon issued a statement professing her support for the investigation to come in hoping for a better WWE:

I have committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including marshaling the cooperation of the entire company to assist in the completion of the investigation and to implement its findings,” said Ms. McMahon.
This all stems from the fallout of a Wall Street Journal report that shed light on alleged multi-million dollars in hush money to silence women who reportedly had sexual relations with Vince McMahon.
McMahon, through the WWE's statement, was vocal on cooperating with the committee throughout the investigation.
“I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the Special Committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation. I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are,” said the longtime WWE chairman.
