Vince McMahon has come under fire yet again after another bombshell report against him. After reportedly shelling out $3 million to cover up his sexual misconduct, the Wall Street Journal reported that the figure was much, MUCH higher. The report puts into question whether he'll remain in charge of the WWE moving forward.
Well, by the looks of it, it seems like Vinny Mac isn't going to give up his throne that easily. The WSJ report was released on the same day that SmackDown Live was supposed to air. Because of that, fans and company employees were curious as to how the WWE chairman will react to this report.
Well, according to sources by PWInsider.com, Vince McMahon was “business as usual” for WWE, taking full control of creative operations. Interestingly, McMahon came in later than usual. The ex-chairman also refused to acknowledge the WSJ article, leading to an “uneasy atmosphere” backstage.
Article Continues BelowVince McMahon has been in charge of the WWE ever since his father came down with an illness in 1982. He's been through his fair share of controversy, from previous sexual misconduct cases to the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” to the steroid scandal. Through all of that turmoil, McMahon somehow emerged from that mess still on top of the company.
It's fair to wonder whether this latest controversy will be the one that finally topples McMahon from his perch on top of the WWE. Many fans have been vocal that he's been a major reason for the company's declining product. Based on how things went last time, though, we will most likely still see McMahon as the head of the company until his final breath.
