After watching a half dozen top-tier performers leave NXT for the main roster during the 2024 WWE Draft, Trick Williams has quickly become the face of the developmental brand, serving as a top star in the ring and one of the locker room leaders behind the scenes.

So when Trick Willie puts over another member of the WWE Universe, fans and other performers should take note, as his words hold significant weight in the NXT and beyond. Discussing CM Punk's time in NXT in an interview with Adrian Hernandez, the NXT Champion put him over as a fantastic mentor to himself and the rest of the locker room, letting fans know that his time in developmental has been nothing but positive.

“Mentor is a perfect way to put it, man. He has been a blessing for all of us who would take the time to actually go talk to him and reach out to him,” Trick Williams told Adrian Hernandez via F4W. “He's helped me with a few things that I feel like, if the crowd knew about it, they would be very grateful that he did. I'll just leave it there. Shoutout to CM Punk. He's been a positive light for all of us here in NXT.”

While Trick Willie and CM Punk haven't exactly been working together on WWE programming, as the latter has been spending far more time torturing Drew McIntyre on RAW to serve as an on-screen mentor to the NXT Champion, if Williams says he's been a great mentor to the NXT locker room, then it must be true, as he really has no reason to lie for the sake of optics.

Trick Williams vows to make an example of Ethan Page in Las Vegas.

After watching Ethan Page discuss with Ava why he deserved to sign an unprecedented contract with NXT, taking a shot at AEW in the process, on NXT, Trick Williams marched down to the ring to clear things up with “All Ego,” letting him and every other outside challenger know that he isn't going to step aside and take a backseat to outside stars.

“So let's get down to business then: Ava, please give this man Ethan Page whatever he wants so Trick Williams and everyone else in this building can get what we want, and that's for me to whoop your a**. You see, Ethan, I know that you're new here, so let Trick Williams help you out and tell you how things go; you listen to me, I'll tell you how things go, I'm Trick Williams, and this is my house. I've been here for a little minute now, since 2.0 to be exact; I've got a few boys in the back who've been here with me the whole time, and this crow here, they've been with me the whole time too. Through the ups, through the downs, and everything in between, they've been here,” Trick Williams noted.

“See my problem with you is you think you can just come here, into my house, my home, jump the line, and jump me, the NXT Champion? You must be crazy. So this is how we're gonna do it; I'm gonna make an example out of you, Ethan, for every other man in every other business around the world who think he can find his way to NXT and find a title opportunity. Because of you, I'm going to take you out. Ethan, let me make this crystal clear, clean out your ears so you can hear what Trick Williams is telling you man to man…”

After Page cut in, effectively letting Williams know that if he signed on the dotted line, he'd get a title shot at Battleground, the current NXT Champion didn't care, as he actually embraced the challenge of finishing off against the veteran grappler before he could end the “Whoop That Trick” Era.

“Ava, you've been here with me for a long time; we built this place together, and let me make this crystal clear: you can't end nothing, dog,” Williams declared. “And come June 9th at Battleground, you're gonna be hearing one thing, best believe that you'll be hearing one thing, NXT, tell him what we're gonna do: whoop that trick!”

Should Williams get the win over Page? Or would it make more sense for “All Ego” to secure the title for a time, allowing Williams to get all the more over in the future when he inevitably wins the belt at a future show? Either way, this match has the sort of big-money feel that few NXT matches bring to the table, which, in the end, is likely why Shawn Michaels and Ava pulled the trigger on the signing ahead of NXT Battleground.
