New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge is having as good a season as any player in baseball. After rejecting the Yankees' $213.5 million contract offer on Opening Day, The Judge has proceeded on a home run tour, as he currently leads the majors with 29 long balls.

Understandably, many are predicting that the Yankees will have to cough up a hefty amount of money to Judge this offseason if he stays healthy. Former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez didn't disagree. But Rodriguez then offered a surprising take on the situation, during an appearance on The Show with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman.

“This is a perfect storm. The most iconic player in our game today, that's lacking big, unique, iconic players. And the most iconic franchise in the world, the New York Yankees. This is a marriage made in heaven. But they both gambled and I think that it's going to cost the New York Yankees a fortune. And I handicap it that it's about a 50 percent chance that he comes back to the Yankees.”

Rodriguez said that he thinks there's a”50 percent chance” Judge returns to New York. That's pretty surprising, given how much the star outfielder means to the franchise and the fans.

Of course, Rodriguez isn't an MLB reporter, though he does know a thing or two about contract negotiations, having gone through the process as a player. He also knows how the Yankees think, having served as a special advisor for the club.

If the Yankees balked at $213.5 million for Judge, it's not out of the question to think they might pass if the money rises into the 300s- or 400s.

As surprising as it is, Rodriguez might have a point.
