James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers are currently at a standstill with regard to the All-Star's demands for a trade from the Sixers. So far, Sixers general manager Daryl Morey has not found an exchange he likes for Harden. Add the fact that reigning MVP Joel Embiid may have soft-launched the possibility of playing for another team, Philadelphia isn't really having a good summer so far. Nonetheless, changes are still bound to happen for the Sixers this offseason and a blockbuster trade is likely on the cards in the near future. Having said all that, Philadelphia should strongly consider going after this other disgruntled star guard in Portland who happens to go by the name of Damian Lillard.

Philadelphia already fired Doc Rivers and has since replaced the former Coach of the Year with ex-Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse. The Harden saga followed after, with The Beard expressing that he no longer wishes to don the Sixers' red, white, and blue. Starting power forward Tobias Harris has also seen his name in the trade rumor mill.

Now, even Embiid is hinting that he is considering playing elsewhere. To keep the MVP happy, Daryl Morey must do everything he can to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. Lillard is definitely the best trade target for the Sixers to turn this Harden ordeal around.

Sixers trade target: Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard is the best trade target for the Philadelphia 76ers because it would keep them in contention for an NBA championship. Lillard is adamant that he wants to go to the reigning Eastern Conference champions Miami Heat only. But the Blazers are reportedly still seeking for the best possible deal out there and are willing to stretch the process out until they find a deal they like, which has frustrated the Heat.

Philadelphia might not have the best package out there. But there are still pathways for them to trade for Lillard and that likely involves a third team.

Obviously, we all know what Lillard brings to the table. At 33 years old, he is still one of the best players in the NBA. Through 58 games last season, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 32.2 points per game — a career-high — while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Pairing him with last year's scoring champion and NBA MVP Joel Embiid will give Philly arguably the best scoring duo in the NBA.

Harden, who won three straight scoring titles with the Houston Rockets, took a backseat to Embiid to allow the Cameroonian to shine and played more of a facilitator role in the Sixers offense. Lillard isn't as adept as Harden as a playmaker, but that doesn't mean he can't rack up the dimes and play off Embiid the way Harden was able to.

But with the way Philadelphia runs its offense, Lillard might actually be a better fit in its system. The Sixers utilize a lot of dribble handoffs with Embiid at the top of the arc. The 7-time All-Star is going to flourish being the recipient of Embiid DHO's and defenses will have nightmares defending those because of how gifted both of them are on the offensive end.

The Embiid-Lillard dynamic might be more potent than the Embiid-Harden pairing and this is why Daryl Morey should push hard to acquire Dame Time from Portland.
