It's been an exciting offseason for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They acquired some great talent to improve the roster. They selected Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick of the NFL Draft, giving the team the brightest future they've had in years.

With Urban Meyer as the head coach, the Jaguars hope to change their identity throughout the organization.

Jacksonville should have an improved season as they have a better roster than last year. The offense looks good on paper and just needs to build chemistry and develop, while the defense has acquired a few dogs to stop opposing offenses.

This team might not make the playoffs but there should be some exciting prospects making some noise in the regular season. Lawrence has the uncanny ability to find the open man and should be able to do so at the professional level. With that said, here are three potential breakout players for the Jacksonville Jaguars 2021 NFL season.

Jaguars breakout candidates:

Laviska Shenault

Laviska Shenault has the tools to be a dominant wide receiver in the NFL. He's big, fast, and is dangerous after the catch. Jacksonville should be designing plays to get the ball in his hands frequently, as Shenault could turn into Lawrence's favorite target quickly.

He had an above-average rookie year with below-average quarterback play. With an improved quarterback under center, Shenault could be in for a monster year and serve as the Jaguars WR1. His yards after the catch make him a serious threat and a versatile weapon Jacksonville can line up anywhere on the field.

Travis Etienne

The Jaguars made sure to snag one of Trevor Lawrence's teammates from Clemson. It was a surprise in the NFL Draft when Jacksonville selected Travis Etienne with their additional first-round pick. However, Etienne has a built report with Lawrence and should serve as a safety blanket for the young quarterback.

Jacksonville's run game could be rather dangerous next year, as James Robinson came out of nowhere as a top running back in 2020. With an improved offensive line and Etienne joining forces with Robinson, the Jaguars will likely plan to run it down their opponent's throats. Etienne should be receiving the most snaps, as he's a great pass-catcher as well. Look for Etienne to be heavily involved in the Jaguars' offense next season.

K'Lavon Chaisson

One of the Jaguars' first-round selections from the 2020 draft, K'Lavon Chaisson aims to have a vastly improved season in his second year in the league. He didn't pose much of a threat his rookie year, only posting 19 total tackles and one sack. Even so, Chaisson will have the chance to improve as he's the starting outside linebacker in the Jaguars 3-4 defensive scheme.

We should be seeing him getting after the quarterback, as that's been his strength since his days in college. Meyer is a smart head coach as well and should be able to draw up a scheme that allows Chaisson to develop into a pass-rushing threat in the NFL. Jacksonville's defense has a long way to go before they become a top-tier unit in the league, but Chaisson's development would give this franchise the boost it needs to have a better season.
