The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the teams primed to make a big jump in 2022. It was a disastrous season last year, amid Trevor Lawrence‘s struggles, Travis Etienne's injury, and of course, the catastrophic tenure of Urban Meyer. With Doug Pederson in as the new head coach, Jacksonville will look to turn things around this season.

With loads of young talent on the roster, the Jaguars have a handful of breakout candidates heading into 2022. The entire roster is eager to improve upon the disappointing 2021 campaign, and in order to do so, these are three players that will need to put up big numbers. With that in mind, here are our three potential Jaguars breakout players for the 2022 NFL season.

Jaguars Breakout Players for 2022 NFL Season

3. Andre Cisco

Andre Cisco is one of the players who figures to see much more opportunity in 2022. The defensive back impressed for the Jaguars in his role last season, and now should be rewarded with more snaps on the field. He only got an opportunity as a starter in Week 16, but Cisco was excellent when called upon. According to PFF, Cisco only allowed one pass completion across the final three games of the regular season, inspiring hope for a breakout season in 2022.

Cisco got run in all 17 games, but possibly the best thing to happen to him during the season was Urban Meyer's ousting. The former Syracuse product struggled to see the field with Meyer in town, but his situation vastly improved in the second half of the year. At 22 years old, Cisco is primed for a breakout season in 2022 after all but locking up the starting safety role in Jacksonville's secondary.

2. Travis Etienne

An injury sidelined Travis Etienne for his entire rookie season, but he is healthy and ready to go for 2022. Etienne has set out some lofty Deebo Samuel-like goals for himself this year, as he's clearly eager to make up for lost time. James Robinson is still recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained late last season, and we're expecting the former Clemson star to capitalize on the potential increase in workload. There's no timetable on Robinson's return, and while it's possible he'll be ready for Week 1, the Jags will likely exercise caution with the running back.

Etienne will showcase his versatility in 2022, serving not only as a reliable option in the run game, but also making a key impact as a top target for Lawrence in the passing attack. Etienne is going to hit the ground running and showcase to everyone why he was a first-round pick just last year.

1. Trevor Lawrence

The Jaguars No. 1 overall pick in 2021 did not have the rookie season fans were hoping for. In short, Lawrence was abysmal, but it's hard to blame him given all the distractions that surrounded the team. He's in a much more stable situation now and we're expecting that to be reflected in his play on the field.

Lawrence threw 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions last season, a mark that led the NFL. He managed just three wins as a rookie, but ultimately lacked the necessary weapons for success. The Jaguars are vastly improved in 2022, having signed Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram, and buffed up the defense and offensive line in the draft. With Etienne coming back in addition to the new arrivals, Lawrence will have much more to work with on offense.

The second-year quarterback will prove to everyone that he's undoubtedly the best QB from the draft, and he'll showcase some of the talent that has had him heralded as the NFL's next big star since his days at Clemson.
