The Texas A&M Aggies received some bad news ahead of Thursday's scheduled SEC Media Day. Aggies talented wideout Ainias Smith was shockingly arrested on Wednesday, per the Houston Chronicle and 247 Sports.

Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith was arrested Wednesday on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI), unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, according to Brazos County (Texas) Jail records.

Brazos County Jail records show that Aggies wide receiver Ainias Smith was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.

The Texas A&M senior was set to be a big part of the team's offense after leading the program in receptions and receiving touchdowns last year.

Smith was also set to appear at SEC Media Day on Thursday as one of the team's leaders. He is being held on $8,000 bond- $4,000 for the DWI charge and $2,000 for apiece for the weapon and drug charges.

The Aggies wideout was pulled over for speeding after 2 AM on Wednesday. the police then searched his vehicle, finding a “rolled joint of marijuana” and a fully loaded handgun, per the Houston Chronicle.

The SEC's best punt returner from last year now faces an uncertain future. It's certainly not the kind of news that Texas A&M was hoping to receive, especially with Media Day around the corner.

Smith was the unquestioned leader of the Aggies' receiving corps. Luckily, Texas A&M brought in the best recruiting class in 2022, which included top talent Evan Stewart.

One thing is for sure. Ainias Smith's arrest is an unfortunate bit of news for the Aggies and their community.
