The Chicago Bears were thrilled to select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. A recent video released by the team gives fans insight into the Bears' pre-draft process ahead of this year's draft. The video features plenty of interesting quotes about QB Caleb Williams.

The Bears recently released the latest episode of 1920 Football Drive, a YouTube series produced by the team. This installment covered the Bears' path to the 2024 NFL Draft. During the episode, members of the Bears' scouting department spoke about Caleb Williams as a prospect.

Area scout Reese Hicks spent some time talking about Caleb Williams the person.

“So as a person, very good personal character, good supportive family,” Hicks said. “And he's got a good team around him, as well. You know, despite all the accolades, he does stay grounded, really humble for everything he's accomplished.”

“Really hard worker and his teammates love this guy. Rave reviews from players that he's played with at USC and Oklahoma,” Hicks continued. “What stands out to me mostly about this kid from a makeup standpoint is just the competitiveness. He hates to lose. He does whatever he needs to do to win, whether it's the work ethic or bringing guys along with him.”

Senior National Scout Francis St. Paul heaped praise on Williams as an ideal QB for Chicago.

“This is the prototype new age quarterback that's a high-level competitor,” St. Paul said. “Flashes of rare talent with his arm. Capable of making throws from multiple arm angles at all three levels. He could play within the pocket or out the pocket.”

“Very good touch and accuracy on all three levels,” St. Paul continued. “Dangerous runner who can get the first down with his feet consistently. This guy comes in, he will be an eventual top-five QB in the league. His combination of his ability, competitiveness and desire to win makes him rare.”

In one part of the video, we got to see what some of Caleb Williams' college teammates said to the Bears about their former QB.

Breck Ackley, Chicago's Assistant Director of College Scouting, shared some quotes from USC and Oklahoma players that were shared with the Bears during the pre-draft process.

One teammate praised Williams' competitiveness and confidence.

“Love him. Competitive. Came in from Day One and said he’d win the job. We loved him,” one teammate said. “He was a ‘dude.’ Smiles. Crazy confident and backs it up with his play. Really good dude outside of ball. Cool with the guys in his circle.”

Another former teammate spoke on Caleb's work ethic and demeanor.

“Great teammate. Pushed me day in and day out. When I had my head down the year before, he’d tell me to come back, lock in and focus,” he said. “He was the guy who believed in me, that’s how I grew as a person. Ended up becoming a better player because I was around him.”

Finally, a third teammate shared a brief quote that sums up Williams' appeal to NFL teams.

“You always have a chance with him in the huddle.” the teammate said.

The Bears seemed keyed into Caleb Williams throughout the entire pre-draft process, but receiving rave reviews like these from Caleb's former college teammates must have made them feel better about picking him as their next franchise QB.
