The Chicago Bears dropped to 4-10 on Monday night as they lost 17-9 to the Minnesota Vikings. While they certainly didn't play well, there was no shortage of controversial calls.

The Bears were handed nine total penalties, with five of them being personal fouls. Veteran pass rusher Robert Quinn expressed his displeasure with the officiating post-game, making it very clear that a lot of these refs are getting out of hand. Via ESPN:

“Some of these calls are starting to get a little crazy,” said Quinn. “These refs seem like they're controlling the game a little too much. So, when a play is clean and they're throwing a flag for something that they thought they could change a game [with] just by one flag … let guys play ball. If this was a couple years ago, half of this stuff wouldn't even be called. But now, they got so many of these stupid rules, they dang near in a ref's hands [and] could change the game in any given moment.

“I think they need to go check the refs they hire and not our coach.”

Quinn does have a point. The number of borderline calls in today's NFL is absolutely bonkers and the Bears were the number one victim on MNF. Head coach Matt Nagy was even penalized in between the first two quarters after arguing a questionable penalty on Deon Bush, who simply made contact with Vikings tight end Tyler Conklin's head.

Scott Novak, the lead official, made sure to let reporters know the Bears boss used “inappropriate language.” Overall, it wasn't a great performance from Chicago. But, some better refereeing could've helped their case, that's for sure.
