They may have played against each other in the National Championship Game earlier this year, but Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins have the same goal — which is to give the Bengals their first win of the season. While playing against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, Burrow’s first touchdown pass to Higgins can do a lot to help them and the Bengals achieve that goal.

Burrow connected on a pass to Higgins for the touchdown with 1:29 left in the second quarter of the game against the Eagles, giving Cincinnati a 9-6 lead. The Eagles, however, scored another touchdown and retook the lead at the break, 13-9. Higgins, who was selected by the Bengals in the second round with the 33rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had a strong first half, catching three passes for 25 yards.

This already comes close to matching his output in his first game for the Bengals in Week 2, when the rookie finished with three catches and 35 yards in a 35-30 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Burrow, the first overall pick in the 2020 Draft, made 12 of 18 passes for 94 yards and one touchdown at the half for Cincinnati.

Back in January, Burrow led LSU to the College Football National Championship, beating Higgins and Clemson, 42-25, to complete an undefeated season and one of the greatest  single seasons by a college quarterback. Now, the two rookies — who are considered among the best in their class — find themselves as teammates, and Bengals fans certainly hope that this is just the first of many connections between Burrow and Higgins.
