The Chicago White Sox host the Seattle Mariners for game two of a three-game series. It's time to continue our MLB odds series with a Mariners-White Sox prediction and pick.

Seattle comes into this game (2-3) on the season. They started out winning their first two games but lost their last three to the Minnesota Twins and White Sox. The Mariners' offense has yet to come alive as they have yet to score more than four runs in a game. The pitching is playing well, however, so there is still some time to put it all together.

Chicago is (3-1) to start the year after beating the Detroit Tigers in the Opening Series and defeating the Mariners last night. The Mariners have lost three in a row while the Sox have won three in a row. Something has to give tonight. This will be a battle between two elite left-handed pitchers.

Why The Mariners Could Cover The Spread

The Mariners need to see their offense step up if they want to cover this spread. This is a good chance to do so because they are facing the fifth starter in the Sox' rotation. The lineup is struggling as J.P. Crawford is the only one hitting over .300 on the season. In fact, Ty France is the only other starter hitting over .200. It's been a tough three-game stretch for the Mariners but they have a chance to get going today.

Seattle is sending out ace Robbie Ray who is fresh off of a great start after his 2021 CY Young campaign. In seven innings, Ray allowed just one run and three hits total. He struck out five while walking four and allowed just one home run. If Ray can repeat his performance the Mariners can find a way to even the series at one. The White Sox lineup does contain a majority of right-handed hitters, so Ray will need to be careful he doesn't leave some pitches over the heart of the plate.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

Chicago is going with Dallas Keuchel in game two of this series. Keuchel didn't play well last year going 9-9 and finishing with a 5.28 ERA. He allowed 189 hits, 95 earned runs, and struck out only 95 hitters in 162 innings. Those numbers will need to improve if he wants to be a consistent member of the rotation. Unfortunately for them, Lucas Giolito is on the IL so they are short-staffed at the moment. The Sox better hope the Mariners don't get to Keuchel early or else they could be forced to try and come back against a tough pitcher.

In the game prior to the 3-2 win over Seattle last night, Chicago scored 10 runs in the win over the Tigers. The offense looked like it should as this team will be contending for a playoff spot come October. The beginning of the lineup is deadly, especially against lefties. Tim Anderson, Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, and Jose Abreu can all mash against lefties so Ray will need really good tonight to stop them. I didn't even mention Andrew Vaughn, who is hitting .400 with two bombs on the season. He bats in the middle of the lineup but that shows the depth they have.

Final Mariners-White Sox Prediction & Pick

This should be a close game. Seattle has the better pitching tonight but the Sox lineup is stacked with right-handers. I believe the Sox will find a way to get to Ray tonight and win this game by at least two runs. At -1.5 (+176), that is tough to turn down.

Final Mariners-White Sox Pick: White Sox -1.5 (+176)
