In a game that features two different colored socks, the Boston Red Sox will put their five-game winning streak on the line as they take on the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. You know what time it is! Check out our MLB odds series, where our Red Sox-White Sox prediction and pick will be unveiled for all to see.

During their winning ways over the past handful of contests that they've played, Boston has scored 38 runs and seems to be hitting a stride at the plate. Looking to give the offense much-needed breathing room will be righty Nick Pivetta, who has began his 2022 season on a little bit of a sour note with a 2-4 record and 4.22 ERA.

After limiting New York to only one run in the last 18 innings, Chicago will bring their red hot pitching inside their home ballpark for this one as RHP Dylan Cease will be eager to build off his fantastic 4-1 season record.

Why The Red Sox Could Cover the Spread

The month of May may not be considered a scorching hot month for many states and regions throughout the Unites States, but for the northeast area that surrounds Fenway Park, the scalding Boston Red Sox are as boiling as a hot, summer day by the pool.

Before the Red Sox became the hottest team in all of baseball, Boston definitely struggled in finding production at the plate. Shortstop Trevor Story was a perfect example of this, as he was off to such a slow start that he was receiving boos from his own fans at Fenway. Story must've took quite the personal offense to the Red Sox faithful voicing their displeasure, as the Boston middle infielder erupted over the past week with five homers, 13 RBIs, and a 1.576 OPS over the past week, which all lead the majors during that span. With the AL Player of the Week finally breaking out if his slump and showcasing more firepower than a Fourth of July fireworks show, the Red Sox lineup has surely become more dangerous seemingly overnight.

With the Red Sox now ranked among the upper half of teams in hitting statistics, Boston must now turn their focus on a pitching staff that has untapped potential. Ranking 15th in the majors with a .380 ERA, the Red Sox do most of their damage on the mound when it comes to their eighth best 1.17 WHIP and tenth best .225 batting average allowed.

Not to mention, but the righty in Pivetta is coming off one of his best outings of the year as he struck out eight while firing a complete game victory over the Astros. He has now only surrendered two earned runs in his previous 22 innings thrown.

Why The White Sox Could Cover the Spread

Sitting a single game above .500, the White Sox are fresh off a mini two-game winning streak themselves after disposing of the Yankees over the weekend. Chicago certainly played some of their best baseball of the season against the Yankees, as the newfound confidence could be just what the doctor ordered as we approach the month of June.

After the debacle and bad blood between the Yankees and White Sox over the weekend that mostly surrounded shortstop Tim Anderson, Chicago's best hitter is eager to move forward and continue his stellar play to begin 2022. In his 145 at-bats on the year, Anderson is slashing a healthy .359 and has 18 RBIs, as both stats lead the White Sox hitting wise.

Outside of Anderson, few Chicago hitters have been able to get going offensively thus far, which may point to the White Sox' average record of 21-20 through 41 games. As a whole, Chicago only has generated the third fewest runs in the league with 147 and are 27th in all of baseball when it comes to on-base percentage with a .290 mark.

The pitching numbers have at least kept this team afloat and from sinking to the bottom of the Chicago River, as the White Sox have the 12th best team ERA at 3.64. Acting as an exciting, young prospect on the mound will be Dylan Cease, himself, who like Pivetta, is fresh off a dominating performance where he struck out nine and in 5 2/3 innings tossed. Believe it or not, but Cease has demonstrated an uncanny ability to put opposing hitters down on strikes, as the 26 year-old has had at least eight punch outs in seven of his eight outings this season.

Final Red Sox-White Sox Prediction & Pick

If you're a fan of socks, then this is the game for you. The Red Sox are red hot, while the White Sox have been stringing together some hard-fought victories and are in striking distance for the first-place spot in the division. Unfortunately, only one team can win and cover the spread. It is wise to put your money on the Red Sox in this one, as Boston is 22-19 ATS thus far while Chicago differs at a 21-24 record through 45 games.

Final Red Sox-White Sox Pick: Red Sox +1.5 (-152)
