Why The Saints Could Win

The New Orleans Saints have been having a rollercoaster of a season. They have some impressive victories over tough opponents and some confusing losses against weaker opponents. Last week the Saints lost by 2 to the Falcons. New Orleans made a late fourth quarter run to make the game come down to the wire, but they weren't able to complete the comeback. The Saints face a tough opponent in the Titans but they have shown that they are able to step things up. New Orleans will need to have a big game if they hope to take down Tennessee.

With Jameis Winston out, the starting quarterback for New Orleans is Trevor Siemian. While Siemian isn't a top quarterback in the league, he has proven that he can keep this team in games. Against the Falcons he threw for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns. Siemian led some late game drives that kept New Orleans in the game and he gave his team a real shot and winning. The fifth year quarterback faces a tough opponent and will need to step up his game to get his team a win. Expect Siemian to be aggressive and to try and make some big plays.

On the other side of the ball, the Saints defense has been very solid this season. They rank 11th in the league in total yards allowed. New Orleans has held opposing offenses to less than 350 yards of offense a game. Where they are most impressive is in stopping the run. The Saints allows the least amount of rushing yards of any team in the NFL. On average, opposing teams rush for less than 74 yards against the Saints. Without Derrick Henry the Titans will likely struggle against this defense which could be a difference maker for New Orleans.

Why The Titans Could Win

Tennessee has been having a very impressive season so far. They have seven wins through nine games and are coming off their most impressive victory yet. On Sunday night the Titans took down the Rams, winning 28-16, putting the league on notice. Tennessee is looking to make a deep playoff run this year. The loss of Derrick Henry is extremely tough, but the Titans are figuring out a way to make it work.

Leading the way for Tennessee is Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill has been having a solid season so far. He has thrown for over 2,100 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. A big part of the Titans offense revolved around Derrick Henry, so Tannehill will need to step up in Henry's absence. If the Veteran quarterback can get going and gain some momentum late in this season, there's no telling how far this Titans team can go. Expect Tannehill to let the ball fly on Sunday.

Helping out Tannehill will be the Titans numerous offensive weapons. AJ Brown and Julio Jones are two tough receivers. Brown has over 550 receiving yards this season and has been drawing attention from top defenders on opposing teams. The Titans signed Adrian Peterson to pick up some of Derrick Henry's carries. It's still unclear how productive he will be, but he did rush for a touchdown in their game against the Rams. If the Titans offense can get going, then they should be able to run away with this one.

Final Saints-Titans Prediction & Pick

The line is kind of surprising for this game. It's easy to say that the Titans win against Los Angeles was a fluke, but they have still been extremely impressive this season. The Saints, on the other hand, are without their starting quarterback and are coming off a loss to the Falcons. The Titans are clearly the better team here and with the line being slim it makes the pick easy. Pick Tennessee to win and cover and feel confident about this one.

FINAL SAINTS-TITANS PICK: Tennessee Titans -2.5 (-118)
