Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win
The Minnesota Wild come into this game on a shocking two-game losing streak after losing 6-2 to the Florida Panthers at home. In fact, the Wild have lost three of their last five games altogether. But it's no secret that the Wild have been struggling on the road, as 11 of their total 16 losses have been on the road this year. All-Star goaltender Cam Talbot will look to get the start between the pipes tonight as he'll look to help bounce his team back up from their recent woes. He's now 19-10-1 and averaging 2.91 goals against but sporting a .911 save percentage on the season so far. The Wild are looking to get out of their recent cold streak tonight, but have run into a red hot Oilers team trying to keep a momentum of their own alive.

The Edmonton Oilers have been on a tear lately under new head coach, Jay Woodcroft. Since he was hired on, the Oilers are 5-0 and are looking to continue their hot streak against a strong Minnesota team who is slowly digressing as of late. Superstar Connor McDavid has found his rhythm once again as he's pup up 10 points in the past five games under Woodcroft. Goaltender Mike Smith has also found a little bit of a rhythm lately, having won his last three-straight games. He'll look to get yet another start tonight as the 39-year-old is allowing 3.31 goals per game with a .904 save percentage the season, but a save percentage of .940 in his last three matchups. Edmonton has been on fire lately as they look to improve on it tonight against a struggling Minnesota squad.

Overall, the Wild have shown to be one of the better teams throughout the season so far and should have no problem making a run in the playoffs, despite a minor hiccup in momentum at the moment. With that being said, just as Minnesota was looking to get back on track, they have run into a wall in Edmonton as the Oilers are playing outstanding hockey right now under their new coach. I think tonight is a good time for Connor McDavid and the Oilers to keep it rolling and take advantage of a cold Minnesota Wild team tonight.
