There's much to be said about the ever-growing effect that Josh Allen has had on the Buffalo Bills and their fan base since his arrival to the team in 2018. That effect was made apparent after the passing of Allen's grandmother, Patricia Allen, prompting Bills fans to donate money to the Oishei Children’s Hospital in honor of Allen's late grandmother.

Once news had spread of the unfortunate passing of Patricia, Bills fans proceeded to donate $17 (a nod to Allen's jersey number) to the hospital, which in turn then made a $17 donation button on their page in response to the overwhelming amount of donations they were receiving in reference to Patricia's passing. The hospital reported on Monday that they had received $34,650.

As such, Allen made sure to express his gratitude for being a part of such a gracious culture with the fans that surround him:

“I can’t tell you how special it is to see the outpouring of support for me and my family during this tough time,” stated Allen, via the Buffalo News. “The donations made to OCH in honor of my grandmother would make her so proud. Thank you Bills Mafia! It is an honor to be your quarterback.”

Allen also took to Twitter to acknowledge the fundraising:

After learning of his grandmother's passing, Allen still opted to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, delivering a powerful performance in honor of Patricia. Allen and the Bills were able to pull off a 44-34 victory over the Seahawks behind the 24-year-old quarterback's efforts. He threw for a whopping 415 yards and three touchdowns in the win as he continues to silence his critics.
