The Buffalo Bills made a huge offseason move by bringing in Von Miller. They proved to be too attractive to pass up and Miller signed a big, multi-year contract to join them. A great defense should get been better with one of the best pass rushers ever stepping in.

Not only did the Bills bring in Miller, but they also brought back Shaq Lawson, who played four seasons with them. The new additions necessitated a roster move. Buffalo completed one by releasing starting defensive tackle Star Lotulelei.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott didn't give a very concrete answer to reporters when asked how Lotulelei fits in the new-look defense. His pending release may have been the reason why, but clearing his contract may also be a reason.

Lotulelei spent three seasons with the Bills. He recorded 3.0 sacks last season in just 11 games, which tied for the second-most he had ever tallied in a season. The 32-year-old played a very important part on some very good Bills teams. His contributions helped them look good enough to lure Miller away from his past teams in free agency.

The Bills should still be able to find a solid interior lineman. Adding two productive pass rushers will definitely fill the void that Lotulelei left. Several other teams need interior defensive lineman, so Lotulelei should have no trouble finding another team.
