Jake Paul has consistently made bold choices throughout his career, transitioning from being a YouTuber to pursuing a side career as a boxer, he might even be willing to fight his brother Logan Paul in the ring.

In a recent guest appearance at The MMA Hour, host Ariel Helwani asked the younger brother, “Where does that stand, you vs. Logan in a brother vs brother fight?”

Jake Paul responded with, “Yeah I think it could be interesting. I think Logan’s down, I’m down, I think it could be fun. Netflix likes the idea so we’ll see what happens over the next twelve months,” citing his willingness to lace it up against his older brother Logan.

The younger brother Jake boasts a boxing record of 9 wins and 1 loss, whereas Logan Paul holds a record of 1 win, 1 loss, and participated in an exhibition fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The influencer-turned-boxer was set to fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 in Arlington, Texas. However, “Iron Mike” had to interrupt his preparation and postpone the fight due to complications with a stomach ulcer.

Despite the rescheduled fight with Tyson now set for November 15th, Paul, known as ‘The Problem Child', has opted to take on another challenge in the meantime. He will face former UFC fighter turned Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star Mike Perry in an eight-round cruiserweight bout in Tampa, Florida.

At 32 years old, Mike Perry, also known as ‘Platinum', will be the youngest former MMA opponent that Jake Paul has faced thus far. Anderson Silva, who was 47 years old, is the oldest opponent Paul has fought.

Mike Perry joins the fray

Jake Paul has convincingly defeated all previous MMA fighters he has chosen to face in the boxing ring. However, he suffered his sole loss in the sport against English boxer Tommy Fury.

“Mike Tyson is one of the baddest men on this planet, he has way more experience than me, he’s a killer, and so why not gain more experience against another notorious known killer, Mike Perry? The bare-knuckle legend, the man that can’t be knocked out, the vicious, violent, brawler,” Paul said in a video in his YouTube channel.

Perry gained recognition as a mixed martial artist, achieving a record of 7 wins and 8 losses in the UFC before moving to the BKFC in 2022. In the BKFC, the 32-year-old has maintained an undefeated record of 5 wins and 0 losses. Now, he aims to secure his first victory in boxing after his sole loss in the sport back in 2015.

“Platinum” Perry suffered a fourth-round knockout loss to Kenneth McNeil on that occasion. In contrast, Jake Paul has achieved a record of 9 wins and 1 loss in professional boxing, defeating several former UFC stars during his career.

After securing back-to-back first-round knockouts against Andre August in December and Ryan Bourland in March, Paul is confident in predicting a similar outcome against Perry.

In the fight card of Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry

Also on the fight card is Amanda Serrano, who was originally set for a highly anticipated rematch with Katie Taylor on November 15. However, that bout was also delayed. Serrano, with a record of 46 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw with 30 knockouts, will now take on Stevie Morgan, who holds a record of 14 wins, 1 loss, and 13 knockouts, in a 10-round junior welterweight bout, serving as the co-main event.

Serrano, aged 35, has been inactive since October 2023 and, like Paul, has opted to remain active instead of waiting until November to compete.

The event will also showcase two undefeated lightweight prospects, Tony Aguilar (12-0-1, 4 KOs) and Corey Marksman (9-0-1, 7 KOs), who will face each other in a rematch. Their first encounter took place in February, resulting in a split draw during MVP's Most Valuable Prospects series.

Undefeated lightweight prospect Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-0, 9 KOs) will also feature on the card. Originally scheduled to face fellow unbeaten lightweight Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield on July 20, Sylve, aged 20, has now been left without an opponent due to Schofield's injury. An announcement regarding Sylve's new opponent will be made in the coming days.

The Paul vs. Perry matchup will be held at Amalie Arena, with the card streamed on DAZN PPV. According to the streaming service, the event will cost $64.99. Additionally, DAZN is providing a free month of their subscription service with the purchase of the event.
