The Tampa Bay Buccaneers new quarterback Baker Mayfield was asked about replacing future hall-of-famer Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. He gave an honest answer when comparing himself to the two-time retiree, seven-time Super Bowl champ.

“There's a reason he's won so many Super Bowls. He's the greatest of all-time, there's no doubt about that. I'm not going to try and be Tom. I am going to be me, that is what has gotten me to this point. We're going to do it differently, but that's what makes this league so special.”

The Buccaneers will be the fourth team that Mayfield will have played for going into his fifth season. Despite the acknowledgement of his shortcomings when comparing himself to the greatest quarterback of all-time, Mayfield is confident he can still bring winning football to Tampa.

He emphasizes that he is just going to be himself and do the best he can to win, a brand he has carried with him since entering the league. Mayfield is known for his fiery personality, and if he succeeds in a Buccaneers uniform, Tampa Bay will be happy to let Baker ‘bake'.

This happens to be an incredible opportunity for Baker Mayfield to establish himself as a reliable starter in the NFL. After some promise to the start of his career in Cleveland, last off-season's Browns trade for Deshaun Watson put the nail in the coffin of his Browns tenure. Short stints in Carolina and Los Angeles defined his 2022, and now he has a chance to be the starter in Tampa.

It will take some getting used to going from Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield for the Buccaneers. One thing will remain the same; Tampa Bay will be trotting out a quarterback that is not afraid to wear his emotions on his sleeves.
