Fresh off a loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers designated running back Chase Edmonds for return from injured reserve on Monday, according to Adam Schefter. Edmonds will attempt to get ready to play by Thursday when the Bucs travel to Buffalo to face the Bills.

Edmonds hasn’t played since Week 2 due to a knee injury. He missed the minimum of four games and could be in line to return just over five weeks after he was placed on the shelf. He has four carries for 20 yards in 18 offensive snaps this season, his first with Tampa Bay.

Edmonds has 18 starts in 72 career games with four different teams. He's scored 17 touchdowns across six different seasons.

The Buccaneers have one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL and are currently ranked 29th out of 32 teams, averaging 77.8 rushing yards per game. The return of Chase Edmonds may not solve all of Tampa Bay's problems, but he will give the Bucs another viable option in the backfield alongside Rachaad White.

Tampa Bay lost back-to-back games off a Week 5 bye after a 3-1 start. The Bucs offense was held to 19 points in those two games and lost their first place standing in the NFC South. Edmonds is a solid receiving option out of the backfield and should be involved with the Buccaneers offense in some capacity sooner rather than later.

It may be tough for him to suit up on Thursday but Chase Edmonds could be making his return to the Buccaneers lineup soon.
