The Arizona Cardinals have officially claimed former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Pharoh Cooper ahead of Sunday's matchup between the two teams. Cooper was released by the team on Tuesday, which allowed the Cardinals to jump in quickly and claim him.

The former South Carolina star was unable to make much of an impact with the Rams this season considering that he found himself on injured reserve until mid-November. And now he'll get ready to face his former team on Sunday.

This tends to happen a lot in the NFL, where a player gets released and immediately gets picked up by a rival. The Cardinals hope that Cooper will offer some production on the field while also being able to give some insight into the tendencies of the Rams.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, no amount of insight into the opponent will matter unless they're able to find a solution to their own problems. Arizona is now 3-11 on the season after the 40-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15, which seemingly has head coach Steve Wilks on the hot seat in his first season on the job.

A win over the Rams would likely offer a bit of a boost in the present, but there are still a lot of unknowns with this franchise when it comes to how they want to build for the future.

With the Rams and the Seattle Seahawks both left on the schedule, it's probably going to be extremely difficult for the Cardinals to build momentum heading into the offseason.
