The Los Angeles Chargers have emerged as a potential landing spot for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It seems former Chargers center Nick Hardwick does not see that happening.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Brady's future this offseason. Hardwick stated that he doesn't see Brady signing with the Chargers. He argued that going from the Patriots to the Chargers would be a step down for the six-time Super Bowl champ:

Via Hardwick's appearance on NBC's Patriots Talk Podcast:

“He goes from the New England Patriots, an organization that owns two private 737s with Patriots logos on the side, and then to come out to L.A. and comes to an organization that is not an owner but a renter of a stadium,” Hardwick said, as transcribed by NBC Sports Boston. “I can’t conceptualize that.”

Hardwick believes Los Angeles only helps Brady with his career in media. He added that the only reason he could see Brady making the move to Los Angeles is to get a head start on his post-retirement career.

“It makes zero sense to me,” Hardwick said. “Other than perhaps he wants to be in the (media) production business and to get closer to that.”

The prospect of Brady going anywhere in free agency still seems a bit far-fetched. However, rumors have swirled that the Chargers have already parted ways with quarterback Philip Rivers. It would make sense for them to seek out the best options available.

Brady has made it clear that he has no intention of retiring. That's even if New England does not re-sign him. Furthermore, there are worse fates than joining a star-studded offense in Los Angeles. Making matters even more intriguing is that the Chargers are about to open the 2020 NFL season in a $5 billion venue at SoFi Stadium. He will undoubtedly be looking to join the team that gives him the best chance at adding another Super bowl ring.

The Chargers may give him the best opportunity to do so entering 2020.
