The Alliance of American Football is slowly becoming a respected professional football league. After launching last week, many people are realizing that the league shows real potential. Former NFL players and college players that didn't make the league have the opportunity for a second chance. Even Trent Richardson is one of the league's best running backs.

The AAF is slowly becoming an option to bridge the gap between the NCAA and the NFL. It's positioning itself to become a “developmental league” of sorts for the NFL. It's not a terrible idea, and the league has sponsored its growth, even allowing games to be played on NFL Network.

After the first weekend passed of its start, people are starting to take notice.

Los Angeles Chargers GM Tom Telesco had nothing but positive things to say about the AAF. He thinks it could finally evolve into the developmental league the NFL never had.

Telesco told Eric Williams of ESPN:

“It’s a great idea. It has the potential to be a nice complement to the NFL. It’s a great spot for a developmental league for players,…I think it’s a great place where people can develop in every department of football operations. Every department that touches a football team can get some real-life experience… It’s a place where young guys can go play… Most of these guys we’ve seen before, but it gives them a chance to develop and learn, get better at their craft and get it on tape.”

It's not surprising Telesco is very supportive of the league. Bill Polian is his mentor, one of the league's founders. The NFL's last associated league was with NFL Europe, which shut down back in 2007.
