The Los Angeles Chargers are listing star defensive end Joey Bosa as doubtful to play in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders, per Pro Football Talk.

The Chargers placed Bosa in the concussion protocol earlier in the week. He left the Chargers’ Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos to be evaluated for a concussion and still hasn't been cleared to play.

Joey Bosa has registered 4.5 sacks and 14 solo tackles for the Chargers this season. Los Angeles will likely miss the playoffs this campaign in what is a rebuilding year for the franchise. Bosa's long-term health is the most important thing for the Bolts right now, along with the development of rookie quarterback Justin Herbert.

The Chargers drafted Bosa with the third overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Ohio State. Since making his NFL debut, Bosa has racked up 44.5 sacks and 162 solo tackles in 58 regular-season games, establishing himself as a force on the defensive side of the ball. The Chargers will continue to monitor his status and hope to get him back in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.

Without Bosa, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr's life and job just got a lot easier in Week 9 versus Los Angeles. Las Vegas should be able to defeat Los Angeles for its second straight win. The Raiders took care of business in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns.
