Los Angeles Chargers rookie quarterback Justin Herbert knows exactly which player he should emulate to have a successful NFL career.

In a 30-minute interview on the Chargers' YouTube channel, the former Oregon Ducks signal-caller was asked about a number of things, including how he's acclimating to his new city.  However, perhaps the most intriguing question he was asked was which NFL quarterback he wants to pattern his game after.

“I would say Tom Brady. He’s one of those guys that’s had so much success. Just the way he goes at the game, how smart he is. Just the way he’s handled everything, it’s been really fun to watch,” the Chargers' rookie QB said.

“One of those guys that you just want to model your game after. The way he throws, the way he reads defenses and the way he plays the game.”

It's quite easy to see why Justin Herbert would select Tom Brady as his inspiration. After all, the now Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB is considered to be one of, if not the best quarterback of all time.

Brady is a three-time MVP and six-time Super Bowl winner (with four Super Bowl MVPs). He has also been named to multiple Pro-Bowl and All-Pro teams throughout his Hall of Fame career.

As the sixth overall pick in the 2020 draft, the Chargers have high expectations for Herbert, who is replacing longtime quarterback Phillip Rivers after he left the team and signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Patterning his game to an all-time great might be a high bar to set, but if Herbert can mimic the things that Brady does on the field, the sky is the limit for LA and their potential success.
