LaDainian Tomlinson would have a remarkable career with the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers) before ending his career with the New York Jets. Despite playing the latter part of his career with Philip Rivers, Tomlinson wishes he played his entire career with Drew Brees.

Tomlinson began his career with the Chargers as the No. 5 pick in the 2001 NFL Draft out of TCU. After San Diego took Tomlinson, it would select Brees in the second round of the draft. As a result, both of them had an immediate bond once they arrived in the NFL.

For Tomlinson, he would immediately be a key cog in the team's offense as a rookie. The former All-Pro running back would rush for 1,236 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season in the NFL.

On the other hand, Brees would have to wait a year before he received a chance to start in the NFL. But in 2002, Brees would start in all 16 games for the Chargers, throwing for 3,284 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Then, in the 2004 NFL Draft, the Chargers took Eli Manning with the No. 1 pick, only to trade him for Rivers.

With Rivers being his eventual replacement, the Chargers allowed Brees to depart in free agency in 2006. The same season that Brees left the Chargers, Tomlinson proceeded to set an NFL record with 31 total touchdowns.

Regardless of whether it was Brees or Rivers under center, Tomlinson was able to have a memorable career with the Chargers. Even though he's a Hall of Famer, Tomlinson wishes he and Brees could have spent their entire careers together.
