Things between the Los Angeles Chargers and running back Melvin Gordon are not exactly going too well.

Gordon is currently holding out of Chargers training camp due to the fact that he is looking for a new contract, and there doesn't appear to be any immediate resolution in sight.

To make matters worse, Gordon seems to have been rubbed the wrong way by some recent comments made by quarterback Philip Rivers.

With Gordon not in Los Angeles' plans at the moment, the Chargers will be forced to give all of the reps at running back to Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson, and Rivers said he is fine with that because those guys are pretty good:

“They’re going to get a lot of work,” Rivers said, according to Matt Szabo of The Los Angeles Times. “It certainly is a deep position for us, and those guys all love to play and work hard. We love Melvin, but we’re going to go with what we’ve got. It’s a pretty dang good group.”

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu proceeded to respond to the quote by saying “DAMN.” on Twitter, to which Gordon responded with this:

Gonna be honest: it seems like Gordon is making a mountain out of a molehill here.

I mean, what is Rivers supposed to say? That he doesn't think Ekeler and Jackson can carry the load? He is obviously going to show confidence in his teammates, and he is actually 100 percent right in saying that the Bolts have a deep backfield.

Perhaps Gordon is just looking for any excuse to justify his staying away from the club.
