When it was announced that the Chicago Bears traded outside linebacker Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers, much attention was centered on the fact that he will now be facing off against his former team in the Las Vegas Raiders twice a season.

Mack made a name for himself during his run with the Raiders before now-former general manager Reggie McKenzie opted to trade him to the Bears in 2018.

Overall, Mack is much looking forward to going up against the Derek Carr-led Raiders offense in the upcoming 2022 season.

“My dog, Derek,” Mack said during his introductory press conference with the Chargers. “It's going to be fun. Every time that I play against that guy, it's fun. He's a special, special guy as well.

“It's going to be fun to see him twice per year.”

Mack had somewhat of a revenge game last season, as he recorded eight tackles and one sack in the Bears’ regular season win over the Raiders. The veteran linebacker simply had his way against the Raiders offensive line over the course of the contest.

Carr will not only be seeing Mack twice a year but also the rest of the Chargers’ star-studded defense that features Pro Bowl talents across the board. In the big picture, Mack is aiming to make the most out of his run with the Chargers.

“When you talk about Joey Bosa, Derwin James, [CB] J.C. Jackson, [CB] Asante Samuel Jr., all of these different intangibles — and these guys are very explosive players and explosive playmakers — I'm looking forward to it,” Mack said. “Like I said, that's the easy part, to talk about it. But I'm an action guy. That's what I'm looking forward to, putting in the work and winning ball games, ultimately.”

Mack is coming off of an injury-riddled season, as he underwent season-ending foot surgery in November. The veteran pass rusher did add that he is now at “100 percent.”

Overall, the Chargers sure will need the best out of Mack in the upcoming campaign as they aim to make their first appearance in the playoffs in the Justin Herbert era.
