Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is not taking the New York Jets lightly, despite the fact New York has yet to win a game this season.

Jones made sure to make a note of that latter bit when asked about the Jets on Thursday:

“That's a very good football team,” Jones said, via Adam Teicher of ESPN. People forget that because they haven't won a game.”

It is unlikely there are a whole lot of people who genuinely agree with Jones.

The Jets have hardly even been competitive through their first seven games. New York ranks dead-last in points scored and passing yards while also ranking 23rd in total yards allowed.

Nevertheless, Jones and the rest of the Chiefs are likely trying to find ways to stay motivated and stay focused on the task at hand as they prepare to take on the Jets on Sunday.

Kansas City is off to yet another terrific start this year, improving to 6-1 on the season after thrashing the Denver Broncos this past Sunday.

The Chiefs rank fifth in scoring, with Patrick Mahomes still playing at a high level and the likes of Clyde Edwards-Helaire asserting himself in the run game.

Although Kansas City's defense has not been overly spectacular, Jones and his teammates have a chance to make their presence felt against the Jets.

Jones has already racked up 4.5 sacks, nine quarterback hits and a pair of forced fumbles on the year. He is likely to have some success getting to Jets QB Sam Darnold this weekend, though the Chiefs will still prepare to be tested.
