Adrian Colbert began his career with the reigning NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers and now he'll be suiting up for the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs have signed Colbert to a one-year deal on Friday.

As mentioned above, Colbert kickstarted his NFL career with the 49ers. The new Chiefs safety was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Miami and would start in six games as a rookie.

In his first two seasons in San Francisco, Colbert would account for 58 combined tackles, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. His second year with the 49ers was cut short after he was placed on injured reserve due to a leg injury.

After his two-year stint in the Bay Area, Colbert signed with the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2019 season. While playing near where he played his college football, Colbert would total 22 tackles and two pass breakups with the Dolphins last season. Despite starting in five games for Miami a season ago, Colbert was released by the Dolphins earlier this week.

Luckily for him, it appears that the Chiefs were scouring the market for a safety to add to their roster. Currently, Kansas City boasts a dynamic duo of Tyrann Mathieu and Juan Thornhill at safety. Mathieu signed with the Chiefs last offseason, immediately becoming a cornerstone in Steve Spagnuolo's defense.

Seeing that Colbert is signing later in the offseason, he is going to have to get acclimated to his new team in a short period of time. Even though he won't be a starter, Colbert will look to carve out a role with the Chiefs as they prepare to defend their Super Bowl title.
