Patrick Mahomes went viral recently after former New England Patriots guard Rich Ohrnberger claimed that the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback asked his fiancée Brittany Matthews and brother Jackson Mahomes to stop attending his games in 2022.

According to Ohrnberger's reporting, the Chiefs superstar made the demand because the two have become a “distraction” and “their sideline antics are bad for his brand.” Of course the issue quickly spread like wildfire, given the fact that the said antics of the two are no longer a new problem and the premise of the report could be true–especially since it came from a former player who supposedly has inside information.

However, Mahomes quickly denied the rumors and said that people are just “making stuff up these days,” basically emphasizing that Ohrnberger's claims were not true.

Now, Ohrnberger is apologizing for the report, saying that he was fed with wrong information from someone posing as his trusted source. He has also deleted his tweet after the truth about it came out.

“I can’t substantiate the information that I tweeted out earlier today regarding Patrick Mahomes and his family,” Ohrnberger said (h/t The Spun). “The source I received this information from was posing as someone I trust. I will delete this tweet later today along with the original thread. Please pass this along.”

For what it's worth, Patrick Mahomes' fiancée chimed in and expressed her bewilderment how hating on her is the cool thing to do now.

Rich Ohrnberger certainly learned his lesson about sharing reports the hard way. While it is definitely their job, sensitive and controversial topics as such undoubtedly needs to be double-checked first.
