Chris Evans is the wrong guy to ask if you want to know about a potential MCU return. The Captain America actor hasn't even caught wind of the rumors of a return, so he claims.

Captain America not returning to the MCU?

During an appearance on The View to promote Jinx (via TheWrap), he was asked about returning to the MCU. Rumors were spread in Variety's cover story that Disney could be seeking to reassemble its OG Avengers group including Evans' Captain America.

“You know, I always see those reports too, and it's news to me,” Evans confessed. “I think every couple months, someone says that they're getting [Robert] Downey, and [Chris] Hemsworth, and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone's coming back!”

But that report seems to be false. Evans reinforced that he hasn't even been approached about a return. “No one's spoken to me about it,” he continued. “And look, I would never say never, but I really — I'm very protective. It's a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”

So for now, it seems safe to assume Evans won't pick up the shield anytime soon. He hasn't been seen in the MCU since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. However, he did just make his long-awaited return to a series, reprising the role of Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

Chris Evans has been thriving since leaving the MCU. He's starred in the likes of Knives Out, Lightyear, The Gray Man, Ghosted, and Pain Hustlers. Evans also recently got married to Jessica Alba.
