The basketball story of the summer, besides the Rio Olympics, has certainly been Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Golden State Warriors. Of course, with Team USA competing at the Olympics, the two storylines were bound to overlap.

Team USA's legendary head coach, Mike Krzyzewski, weighed in on Durant's big free agency decision. Whereas many have called him a traitor for abandoning the franchise he built from its inception for the team that took him down in the playoffs, Coach K has a different perspective.

In an interview with Hannah Storm of ESPN, Krzyzewski spoke on Durant:

“One thing I told him is that, when you're really good you're going to be criticized, and you're going to be hated by a certain amount of people … a lot of people aren't going to like you because of the decision you made.

“Even the people who say they don't like you, they respect you. And if they don't, they're knuckleheads, because then they don't respect excellence. And you know what, man, you are excellent.”
