It didn't take long for newly-named Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich to find his offensive coordinator. The Colts are set to hire Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers coach Nick Sirianni to take charge of Reich's offense, ESPN’s Field Yates reports.

The Colts had already put in a request to interview Sirianni, who was reportedly a top candidate for the job.

Sirianni, 36, had been with the Chargers for the last five seasons. He spent the last two seasons as the team’s wide receivers coach and the previous two seasons as the quarterbacks coach. Prior to his stint with the Chargers, he spent his first four seasons as an NFL coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sirianni has a close connection with Reich, whom he worked with in San Diego for three seasons. This will be Sirianni’s first time as an offensive coordinator at any level.

Sirianni and Reich will be tasked to help turn around a Colts offense which struggled mightily without the talents of quarterback Andrew Luck to prop them up last season. They finished 30th in the league in scoring at just 16.4 points per game and 31st in yards per game.

It still remains to be seen whether Luck will be able to make his return in 2018 and if he can recapture his Pro Bowl-caliber play. He still hasn’t progressed to the point of throwing a football over a year removed from surgery on his right shoulder and there remains no timetable available for his return.

If Luck remains unable to play, Sirianni will have to make do with Jacoby Brissett, who started 15 of 16 games at quarterback last season.
