CD Projekt Red faces further scrutiny following the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The Polish game developer now faces an investigation from Poland's consumer protection agency. The agency in question wields the power to find CDPR up to 10% of its yearly income. Given the disastrous PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch of its game, CDPR could be in danger.

UOKiK, Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection announced that it will look into the confusion surrounding Cyberpunk 2077's launch. The investigation calls for the developers to offer an explanation regarding all of the issues that have ignited poor reviews, complaints, and one class-action lawsuit.

“We are asking the company for an explanation regarding problems with the game and actions taken by them. We will check how the developer is working on patches or solving issues preventing playing on various consoles, but also what steps [the company] is planning to take regarding people [who requested refunds] and are not happy with their purchase because they can't play the game on owned hardware, despite assurances by the producer.”

Currently, the agency is giving CDPR the chance to explain the launch before deciding on its next step. The next steps of the investigation could potentially prove significant for the Cyberpunk 2077 developers.  CDPR could face far more devastating repercussions aside from the already devastating 10% yearly income fine that could be levied against them.

The ongoing investigation is only the latest in a long line of setbacks and hiccups for one of the most awaited games in recent memory. The neverending series of negative attention will no doubt mar the otherwise commendable record of a big game. Unfortunately, it seems to be only a great game if you're playing on PC.

Despite all the noise surrounding the title, Cyberpunk 2077 still remains one of the strongest game releases in 2020.
