Derek Brunson is not a happy man with the reports that Darren Till fought him injured. The North Carolina native believes he is trying to take away from his victory.

It was reported after the fight that Darren Till had completely torn his ACL before the fight and refused to pull out. The reports drew different reactions as some saw it as bravery and others saw it as an excuse.

Michael Bisping was the one that got the news that Till was injured. Derek Brunson spoke to MMAJunkie afterwards and gave his thoughts on the report.

“I’m used to people trying to minimize my wins or trying to throw a little salt,” Brunson told MMA Junkie. “Not saying Michael was trying to do that, but all fighters are injured 24/7. Look at myself, everybody’s banged up. It’s almost like who’s less banged up going into the fight.”

The injury narrative in MMA is a tricky one as most fighters are always nursing some sort of injury, as Derek Brunson mentioned. Some are simply knocks while others are big enough to force you to pull out of fights.

In MMA there is a big disagreement on whether injuries should be revealed after fights as many feel they are used as an excuse. The reason they aren't reported before the fight is because the commission would pull the fighter out of the contest before the bout could take place.

Derek Brunson is in a spot in his career where he needs to do everything he can to fight for the title. At the age of 37, this is his last opportunity to fight for the belt.
