The Miami Dolphins and veteran running back Frank Gore have agreed to a one-year deal, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The signing was initially reported by Craig Mish.

Just over a week into the free agency period, the 34-year-old has found a landing spot after holding a visit with the Detroit Lions. At one points, those talks reportedly heated up toward a three-year deal with the team. However, nothing truly came about from it.

Gore is coming off a highly productive three-year stint that saw him rush for at least 960 yards in each campaign, including his ninth 1,000 rushing yard season. He proven that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank to be a productive factor out of the backfield with 961 rushing yards, including a season-high 130 yards on 36 carries against the Buffalo Bills to nearly lead the Colts to a victory in the snow.

According to NFL Research, he is also currently up among some Hall of Famers with his prestigious career marks.

Gore has shown that he can still handle a significant workload, recording 260 rush attempts in each of the last three years with the Colts despite the years of the wear and tear. He is currently fifth all-time on the career rushing yards list, sitting just 75 yards behind Hall of Famer Curtis Martin, which is a mark he should pass early in the 2018 season.

He is now set to join a crowded backfield that already features both Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake, which could lead to a much more diminished role than he had with the Colts. Drake has staked a claim to have a significant chunk of playing time after the manner he finished the 2017 season. He recorded 444 of his career-high 644 rushing yards in the final five games of the regular seasons, including a pair of 100-yard performances.

This is also an opportunity for Gore to come back and play professionally near home, as he born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida and spent three years at the University of Miami.
