United States President Donald Trump, as well as First Lady Melania Trump have both just tested positive of COVID-19.

Shams Charania of the Athletic was one of the first media personalities to break this shocking development on Twitter:

There are no further details about the situation, except for the fact that according to Trump himself, he and the First Lady will be starting with the quarantine process. This is obviously a special circumstance, given how this is the nation's leader, but the fact still remains that they must be isolated in this light.

This was the President's tweet confirming this development:

Both President Trump and his wife appear to asymptomatic, so this is at least a good sign. It is worth noting, however, that he is already 74 years of age, which places him at a greater risk against the coronavirus.

This is a devastating blow for Trump and his re-election campaign. With the national elections coming up in a month's time, the campaign has been in full swing of late. It's only going to be more intense from here on out, and it remains to be seen what type of campaigning — if any — the incumbent President can do to with his current condition.

No matter where you're sitting, this is still an undeniably regretful development. Nobody should wish harm onto your fellow man, and while the President has more than a few Americans who are not exactly in agreement with pretty much everything he has been doing as the commander-in-chief, the right thing to do here is to hope and pray for Trump's speedy recovery.
